Service overview
What lpg heating & boiler services actually involves.
Plain-English breakdown, so you know exactly what you're paying for, and why it matters before we set foot on site.
What it is
We design, install, convert, service and repair Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) heating systems for properties off the mains gas grid. That covers full LPG boiler installs, conversion of an existing natural-gas boiler to LPG (or vice versa), bulk tank and cylinder-bank pipework, regulators, and full system commissioning to manufacturer spec.
Who it's for
Homeowners in rural Hertfordshire, the Chilterns, Berkshire and Surrey whose property has no mains gas, smallholdings and farms running off a bulk LPG tank, holiday lets and annexes on cylinder banks, and developers fitting LPG to new-builds outside the gas network.
When you need it
When you are replacing an aging LPG boiler, switching supplier and need new tank pipework, converting a natural-gas boiler after a move off-grid, scoping a new bulk tank install, or chasing intermittent lockouts, regulator faults or pressure issues on an existing LPG system.
Why it matters
LPG is a higher-pressure, heavier-than-air fuel with its own commissioning rules, ventilation requirements and regulator setups. An engineer without the LPG certification on their Gas Safe card legally cannot work on it, and a botched conversion or under-spec'd regulator is a serious safety risk. Our engineers are Gas Safe LPG certified and used to working with the major LPG suppliers.
The cost of doing nothing
What goes wrong when this is ignored.
Off-grid heating is unforgiving. A frozen regulator on a January morning, an undersized tank-to-house run, or a boiler converted with the wrong injectors all show up the same way, no heat, no hot water, and a long wait for a specialist.
Risks of waiting
Using a non-LPG-certified engineer is illegal under Gas Safe rules and invalidates your home insurance.
Converting a natural-gas boiler with the wrong conversion kit produces incomplete combustion, sooting and carbon monoxide.
Undersized pipework or a wrong-spec regulator causes lockouts whenever demand peaks (cold mornings, multiple showers).
Bulk tanks sited too close to drains, openings or boundaries breach UKLPG siting rules and can fail supplier inspections.
Common mistakes
Assuming any gas engineer can work on LPG, the LPG ticket is a separate Gas Safe certification.
Putting off the annual service because the property is rural, regulator and tank-side components age faster outdoors.
Picking a boiler model that has no LPG variant or no LPG conversion kit available from the manufacturer.
Skipping a tightness test after any pipework change, mandatory under the gas regulations.
Our process
How the job actually runs.
Same system every time. No improvising on your floor.
01
Free site survey
We visit, check the tank or cylinder location, the run to the boiler, the appliance, ventilation and flue route, and confirm exactly what's needed.
02
Fixed written quote
Itemised quote within 24 hours covering the boiler, conversion kit (if any), pipework, regulator, commissioning and warranty registration.
03
Install or convert
LPG boiler install, full conversion of an existing boiler, or new tank-to-boiler pipework, completed by the same Gas Safe LPG engineer from start to finish.
04
Commissioning & tightness test
Gas tightness test, working-pressure check at the appliance, full combustion analysis and a commissioning certificate handed over on the day.
05
Warranty & paperwork
We register the manufacturer warranty (up to 10 years on eligible Worcester and Vaillant LPG models) and lodge the Gas Safe notification for the LPG work.
What you get
The outcomes that matter.
One certified team
Boiler, pipework, regulator and commissioning by the same Gas Safe LPG engineer, no separate sub-contractor for the tank side.
Manufacturer-approved LPG models
We fit Worcester Greenstar and Vaillant ecoTEC LPG variants, both with 10-year warranties when serviced annually.
Conversions done properly
Manufacturer conversion kits only, correct injectors, gas valve setting and combustion analysis, with paperwork to keep your warranty live.
Safe tank-side work
We work to UKLPG siting rules and liaise with Calor, Flogas and AvantiGas on bulk tank installs and changeovers.
Annual LPG servicing
Full strip-down service, regulator check, tightness test and flue gas analysis, keeping the warranty valid and the system safe.
Emergency LPG cover
24/7 callout for no-heat, no-hot-water and suspected leaks on LPG systems, the same fixed callout fee as mains gas.
In depth
Everything worth knowing before you book.
The details a salesperson skips. Skim it, or read every word, both are useful.
Most modern combi, system and regular boilers from Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi and Ideal have an LPG variant or a manufacturer-supplied conversion kit. We size the boiler against your radiator output and hot water demand exactly as we would on mains gas, then spec the regulator, change-over valve and pipework to match. Every install includes a magnetic system filter, scale reducer where appropriate, fresh inhibitor and a power flush or chemical clean on existing systems.
Converting between natural gas and LPG
If you've moved to an off-grid property with a natural-gas boiler, or you're switching the other way after a grid connection, the boiler often does not need replacing, just converted. We fit the manufacturer conversion kit (new injectors, gas valve adjustment and where required a new fan), re-commission with a flue gas analyser and update the boiler badge. Done correctly, the warranty stays intact.
Bulk tanks, cylinder banks and tank-to-boiler pipework
Whether you are on a 1,200 or 2,000 litre bulk tank in the garden, or a bank of 47kg cylinders, the pipework, regulator and change-over valve setup matters as much as the boiler itself. We install and uprate tank-to-boiler runs, fit two-stage regulators, change-over valves and over-pressure shut-off devices, and liaise with your LPG supplier on tank siting, fill-point access and any access road requirements.
LPG servicing, repairs and emergency cover
An LPG boiler should be serviced every 12 months, the same as mains gas, but the regulator and tank-side fittings also need eyes on them. We strip the burner, run a flue gas analyser, test working pressure at the appliance, check the regulator and tightness-test the run from the tank. Recurring lockouts, low-pressure faults, ignition failures, frozen regulators in cold snaps, we cover them all under our 24/7 emergency line.
